Commercial Flooring Installer - Installer or Journeyman

Position Description
We are looking to hire a new commercial flooring Installer or Journeyman to be a part of our team. A minimum of 15 years of experience in the commercial flooring industry is required.
Normal work would include loading and unloading of materials and supplies into company trucks and trailers. Removal and disposal of existing flooring, sweeping, gluing, and floor preparation. Additionally, installing both carpet and resilient tile, carpet & vinyl base, and leveling, patching, and skim coating the floor. We use state of the art demolition machines to assist in all demolition work. On occasion, we work with rolled goods with pad and stretch in carpet, however, that is rare and usually associated with hotels. We also have a crew that does commercial hard tile installation.
Throughout the year we will also work on projects that have prevailing wage which can range from $38 - $51 per hour. Between prevailing wage and overtime this position can generally expect to make $55K - $70K a year.
A typical day would be to arrive at our warehouse in Lansing where you would load up your day’s supplies and equipment into our company vehicles and head to the jobsite with the rest of your crew. Most jobs are in the mid michigan area and you will not be required to drive to a job site unless it is very close to our shop. Crew sizes typically range from 2-5 people.
Working hours are generally 7am - 3pm but there are times we work 2nd shift (4pm - 12am). On larger jobs the schedule is fairly consistent but some days you will stay until the job is completed.
We do have some projects throughout the year that are done on 2nd shift and we only work a couple Saturdays a year. Additionally, on occasion there will be out of town jobs that may last up to a week. We DO NOT work on any major holidays or on Sunday’s.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Loading and unloading equipment and product
Removal and disposal of existing carpet/flooring
Gluing
Carpet and resilient tile installation
Patching, leveling, and repair of floor
Installing carpet and vinyl base
Skills Necessary
Good with your hands
Ability to start and lay both carpet and resilient tile as well as rolled goods
Honest and Transparent
Material layout, line snapping and squaring of rooms
Independent and Hard working
Work well with a team and under a crew leader
Stretching in carpet (commercial settings)
Seaming carpet
Cutting LVT/LVP
Requirements:
Valid driver's license (No chauffeurs or commercial license needed)
No DUI, DWI or any driving license related restrictions within the last 3 years
No smoking/vaping/tobacco or marijuana use when clocked in.
No violent criminal record or sex offenders list
Physically fit and able to lift up to 50# and perform general construction work.
Must have reliable transportation to get to our warehouse.

Experience & Training:
This position requires a minimum of 15 years experience in the commercial flooring industry. We are hiring for either an Installer or Journeyman so the wage will be dependent on your experience and skill level. You will be able to continue to refine your skills working with our team and have the ability to progress in this trade.
